Sangeet Bharti Foundation,Mangalore staged 'Ninaad', a musical concert, in which, some Pune artistes were introduced to the Mangalore audience. It was a Jaltarang-Bansuri jugal-bandi followed by a rudraveena recital.

Milind Kulantkar played the jaltarang,Sunil Avchad the flute and Charudutt Phadke showcased his prowess on the tabla.

The programme commenced with B.R.Bhat, General Manager of Corporation Bank, lighting the lamp.

The heavenly journey of music began with the invocatory piece of the Alaap jod variety with the sweet sound of the flute accompanied by the tinkling sound of the jaltarang. One followed the other. The sounds produced by the jaltarang resembled water gurgling down a stream.

The audience was entranced by the music which is truly God's gift to man.

The function had Kum. Rakshitha entertaining the audience with a specially chosen Janapada Geethe.

Another colorful item was Yaksha Prarthane. Sushanth Rao and Shabareesh took part. The Yakshagana number had loud gesticulations as part of the entertainment. In short, a show to remember.

"Vanitha Vana" a park devoted to women and children has come up at Hat Hill in Mangalore. The park is set up in a 1.5 acre land and is designed by Venkatesh Pai of Pailands.

The movie makes an impact, courtesy Ranbir Kapoor, who proves he is in the business not just because of his surname. Ranbir portrays the naive wannabe, the rock performer and the emotional wreck with amazing ease. Alas, his pair, model-turned actress Fakhri, seems still trapped on the ramp.

Now,what is Rockstar without A.R.Rehman! The maestro's music is the soul and spine of the movie. All songs, already chartbusters, are woven beautifully into the story.

Rockstar succeeds in exploring the eccentricities of a musical genius, but falters while telling his story. And all you take back is Ranbir and Rehman.

The Adventures of Tintin

Tintin finds the third model of the Unicorn only to be mobbed by two other collectors of similar models.

Very soon, Tintin realises the Unicorn has a dark secret and tries to find out why others are desperately after a model ship.

The Captain is the typical drunkard found in The Crab... although he is far sober in The Secret.... Snowy is both intelligent and funny as in the book, the Thompsons as bungling as ever. Bianca Castafioreis 'adorable' with her glass-shattering voice.

Credit must be given to the make-up artistes too for getting the actors to look almost like the characters in the series, The Adventures of Tintin promises more fun, thrills et al in the coming days. It's a must-see film.

Waterfalls in Sirsi

Sirsi in Uttara kannada district is well-known for its natural beauty with forests, rocky wonders like Yana and innumerable waterfalls. Waatehalla Falls is a beautiful waterfall tucked away in the deep jungles. Located close to the village of Nilkunda, on the way to Unchalli Falls, it often goes unnoticed.

Descending, the waterfall was pointed out in the distance. It was the first stage of the fall that drops down in three stages. Here it looked like any other waterfall. The last part of the trail took us to the bottom where two little cascades generally dropped into a pool of green transparent water.

Getting there:Waatehalla Falls can be reached from Nilkunda village by bus from Sirsi (28km).

It's the songs of the film which stand out much more than the script, narrative, drama and performances. Umrao Jaan, Madhushala and the title track are extremely peppy numbers which infuse life in an comatose film.

Here, he romances not one but two pretty women and both are ready to eat out of his hand for the elusive ever-after. With the twin love comes the twin dilemma too. Should he opt for the rich girl who holds the key to a golden future or should he rebuild bridges with his soulmate of the past and settle for the sweet domesticity of middle class married life, with all its ups and downs? Indeed a difficult task for our deadpan hero.

Amongst the many numbers presented by the students was ' Bhagyadalaxmi Baramma'.

Another classical number was sa-oo-dha-pa-dha-na-pa-dha. The students swayed their heads to the beat of this number.

It was followed by maha- ganapathim vashisht pawan guru-guha. This melodious number was sung with the students putting heart and soul into it.

An unmanned Atlas 5 rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force station on Friday, sending a robotic scout on its way to Jupiter to sniff out details about how the solar system formed.

The rocket carrying Nasa's Juno spacecraft lifted off at 12.25pm, the first step in a five-year, 716-million km journey to the largest planet in the solar system.

Upon arrival in July 2016, Juno is to spend a year in an unprecedented polar orbit around the giant planet, measuring its water content, mapping its magnetic fields and searching for signs of a solid core.

The measurements will help scientists discriminate among theories about what the early solar system looked like and how Jupiter was created.

To make its observations, Juno will soar as close as 5,000 km above Jupiter's cloud tops the first spacecraft to fly inside the planet's radiation belts.

Since the conditions on Mars were thought to impede supersaturation rather than encourage it, the present climate models do not include the process and will need to be revised.

Only a small fraction of the water reaches the upper level of the atmosphere, where it is broken up into hydrogen and oxygen atoms that escape into space.

But,if more water is present, then it means a larger quantity is able to escape and that means more water could have been present in the Red Planet'spast than previously thought.

The grandeur of the Rashtrapathi Bhavan will be captured in a series of stamps that will soon be released by President Pratibha Patil.

Though details of the design and the denomination are still under wraps, the set of four stamps are essentially a tribute to the art and architecture of the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Since the main building has already been featured, the new collection will focus on the art and architecture, and is likely to have Mughal Gardens, the intricate architectural detailing of the structure and a few exquisite paintings.

Scheduled for August release, the stamps are likely to be in the denomination of Rs.5. There will be a miniature sheet along with the first day cover and brochure and a presentation pack as well.

Cambodian 'puzzle' temple re-opens

For the first time, scientists have captured in unprecedented detail a massive storm raging on Saturn which is producing lightning bolts 10,000times stronger than those on Earth.

According to researchers, the storm has a latitude and longitude of 6,200 and 10,500 miles respectively - meaning it would spread across half of the Earth.

The electric spectacle is producing a tempest so intense the flashes are occurring at the rate of upto ten times a second.

Based on a 2005 novel written by James Sallis, 'Drive' caters the expectations of all those seeking a blend of action and romance in one pack.

A slow-moving action thriller, 'Drive' is about a Hollywood stunt performer (Ryan Gosling), a loner who performs all sorts of assignments-from film stunts to acting as a getaway driver for criminals.

Good performances by Gosling and Carey add flavour to the action drama.

'Drive' portrays Gosling as a driver for hire who's known simply as 'driver' throughout the movie. However, unlike its name, 'Drive' shows speeding cars in action merely 2-3 times in the movie.

Overall, the movie comprises less action than expected and the slow pace may diminish your interest in this action drama.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has begun the countdown for the launch of the PSLV C-17 carrying the advanced communications satellite GSAT-12.

The 53-hour countdown commenced at 11.48am on July 13. During the countdown, propellant filling operations of the liquid propellant second stage (PS2)and fourth stage (PS4)of the launch vehicle will be carried out.

PSLV-C17 will launch GSAT-12 satellite into a sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit of 284-km perigee with an apogeeof 21,000km.

GSAT-12 communication weighing 1410kg with 12 extended C Band transponders is expected to augment the communication services in the country.

Fifty-five new FM radio channels are slated to come up in different parts of Karnataka, following the Centre's approval to policy guidelines for expansion of private radio stations in the country.

The new FM radio stations will come up in Bangalore(one), Mysore(two)and Mangalore(one), four each in Belgaum, Bellary and Davangere, and three each in Gulbarga, Bidar, Bijapur, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Gadag Betagiri, Hassan, Hospet, Kolar, Raichur, Shimoga, Tumkur, and Udupi. All the proposed new FM radio channels will be run by private entities.

According to the government's new policy, all the cities with one lakh and above population will have a private FM radio channel.

The Grand Canyon is situated in northern Arizona and is the most spectacular canyon in the world. It is a 446km gorge cut through high plateaus by the Colorado river. It is noted for its fantastic shapes and colors. In general, the color of the Canyon is red, but each stratum which is a layer of the Earth or group of strata has a distinctive hue which ranges from buff and grey, delicate grey and pink.

The Canyon extends in a winding course from the mouth of the Paria river, near the northern boundary of Arizona to Grand Wash Cliffs near the Nevada line. The north and south rims of the Canyon are connected by a paved road and by a trans-Canyon trail. Mule-pack trips and river rafting are popular ways of viewing and experiencing the beauty of the vast canyon. The gorge has many rapids. There are several tribes living on nearby reservations.

ISKCON celebrated Sri Krishna Janmashtami with a lengthy agenda on their schedule. The day started with Their Lordships Sri Sri Krishna Balarama arriving at T.V.Raman Pai Convention Centre, Kodialbail Mangalore.

At 9a.m. there was Darshan Aarti (Vishesha Alankara for Sri Sri Krishna Balarama).

9.15.a.m. saw Guru pooja of Srila Prabhupada. Bhajans played in the background in the form of recorded music.

The main event of the day was inauguration of Hare krishna Japa Yajna at sharp 10.a.m.

From 10.30 a.m. to 7.30a.m. is slated Krishna's favorite activity namely Jhulan Seva for makhan Krishna.

There is also Sri Krishna Pushpacharna Seva from 11a.m. to 6p.m.

Rajbhog Aarti keep the devotees busy at 12.30p.m.

There are people, on earth, who are determined to set milestones in their chosen profession.

Amy Johnson, Queen of the Air was one such. In Jason, a primitive Gypsy Moth aeroplane without even a radio, Amy Johnson broke the 1930 record with her flight from England to India.

She looked tired and her face was sunburned but she told reporters that she felt very fit.

She landed at Singapore just before 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

She crossed the coast of Java at 4.30 p.m.over ten hours after leaving Singapore.

Time seemed to drag on: would Australia never show up? At last, Amy saw land: Melville Island, a landmark she had been looking for, not far off the Australian coast.

It was true. She had done what she set out to do and here she was, Amy Johnson, alone in her little Gypsy Moth, Jason, actually landing in Australia!

Tata Motors on Tuesday launched the new variant of its crossover vehicle Aria. Tata Aria 4x2 is priced between Rs.11.61 lakh and Rs.14.26 lakh and it is available in three trim levels.

Equipped with innovation, luxury, safety and entertainment features, the vehicle comes with 2.2 litre direct injection common rail (DICOR) engine, delivering 140 PS power.

Referring to Nano, Mr.Telang, Tata Motors Managing Director(India operations)said the company was looking to set up assembly operations for the small car in overseas markets, including the ASEAN region and Latin America.

Aarakshan(Hindi)

The first half has Mandal Commission talk with Amitabh Bachchan (Principal of a prestigious institution) giving a piece of his mind to his bright and Dalit protege, Saif Ali Khan. There are sparks as the two debate the controversial
27 per cent.

Like Jha's previous works, Aarakshan too is a fight against the evil.

The black sheep of Bachchan's college, Bajpayee mints money with his tuition centres. Bachchan objects and Bajpayee flaunts his claws and horns.

It's a well-cast movie, but in the end, Aarakshan belongs to Bachchan. The actor lives his role as the dedicated guruji who wakes up at 3a.m. to help his students with their maths lessons.

Aarakshan maybe the weak link on Jha's filmography but it doesn't disappoint.

Ramya and Deepti presented nine well-known compositions which was wholesome and pleasing. Two krithis presented 'Jaya Janakeekantha'(Ramya)and 'Kanjadalayatakshee'(Deepthi)were evocative. A pada, jawadi on Subramanya, devaranama and a Shiva stuthi helped to bring out their Abhinaya skill easily. The Purvi Kalyani thillana was a refreshing finale for the compact programme.

But the recorded music was feeble and failed to complement the dance. Ramya and Deepthi have good future with some more higher training and stage experience.

The C.A.U.S.E. Foundation staged Monty Python's Spamalot with a cast of 35 members.

Directed by Leila Alvares, the musical spoof features Arvind Kasthuri as the King Arthur who is on a quest for the Holy Grail along with his bungling knights. The other cast members include Priya Mendens, Jude Lazaro, Prem Koshy and Mark Swaroop.

The C.A.U.S.E. Foundation stages interesting musicals year after year.

With her versatality Leila Alvares, has probed Britain's history.

First seen on British television in 1969 with the series 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' they combined the anarchy of the Marx brothers with the 'rarefied British spirit of absurdity and straight-faced irreverence'.

The songs and dances of the show were enlivening. Costumes stood out for their good relation to the period in which the musical is set.

All in all, an entertaining evening.

King of limbs

The new Radiohead album contains just eight tracks. Also, given that the band boasts of phenomenal guitarists, the tracks are just looped together by keyboard strings anchored by drum patterns.

Bloom comes in on a fluttering loop of piano and humming vocal lines. Seperator is the final track with more vocals and brittle drums.

Yet, each song is exquisitelty edited and mixed.

Destroyed

Moby's 10th album,the soundtrack is just fine. Moby mentions that he wanted to show a different side of him while he is touring and travelling and revealed that it was more than often, mundane, disconcerting and occasionally beautiful. The album consists of 15 tracks.

He needs to be given credit to his ability to create music, right from punk to electronic. Destroyed is Moby at his electronic best. Blue Moon and Stella Maris are the best tracks of the album. Victoria Lucas has a catchy beat while Sevastapol is one of the very few memorable trscks released recently.

Arvind Adiga has come up with another marvel: The Last Man in Tower.

'The White Tiger' was a marvellous read and he again doesn't disappoint.

A story of ordinary men and women with their families residing in Tower A and B situated in Vakola, Bombay. Their successes and failures as individuals in a vast metro like Bombay is conceptualised.

The novel becomes gripping towards the end. One wants to know what will become of 'Masterji', the principled physics teacher, the main character in the novel.

Ordinary men and women pushed towards crime in order to make a win-win situation in life as a successful builder Dharmen Shah begins to make rules in Vishram Society.

The turn their lives take is well laid-out in the book. All credit to the author.

This is obvious from the result of the recent England-India clash.

Zindagi na Milegi Dobara

Here is something fresh and spirited after a long time. The camraderie is honest and the pranks real. Nothing is laboured here. All the three are master mockers, Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar

The first half is devoted to the three 'bonding' after a gap. And the result is Tourism Spain. Not bad at all, as the men travel the length and breadth of an amazing nation. Scuba diving, sky diving, a tomato festival...the roadies are ready for more thrills, with adventure-freak Katrina Kaif joining them mid-way.

All along, the movie shows how important it is to have a shoulder to cry on. And it all ends with the famous Pamplona bull run where the three amigos make a spirited sprint after sorting out their own demons.

The habit of saving

Saving is a good habit. Everyone extolls the habit of saving. Elders encourage the young 'uns in the family to save.

In my family, my mother and I indulge in the practice of saving.

I save Rs.500 a month with the local representative of the nearby post office. My mother saves a gargantuan sum of Rs.1,500 a month. She, too uses the service of the local dame who is the handmaiden of the local post office. 'Save for a rainy day and many a misfortune can be averted', so the saying goes. This is very true.

I would recommend this habit to everyone. 'Save' and a pot of gold awaits you.

Using her stay in West Africa to collect beads and other artefacts, Maya Ahmed has turned jewellery-making into an art, crafting earrings, necklaces and bracelets of unusual but exotic design.

Ms.Ahmed is holding an exhibition-cum-sale of jewellery at Orchid Art Gallery from July 1 to 4.

The beads were made of glass in various parts of West Africa by artisans.

They had been designed with a locket-like piece at an angle from where the locket would conventionally be placed in a necklace. Many of them were simply unconventional both because of the design and the kind of beads and other materials used to craft the accessories.

She learned to design beaded jewellery from artistes on the streets and from professionals, jewellery makers in Ghana in West Africa, where she worked at a University.

The State Forest Department has submitted a proposal to the Union Government To take steps to revive the Great Indian Bustard population, which has been pushed to the critically endangered category at the Ranebannur Blackbuck Sanctuary in Haveri district.

Ranebannur Sanctuary is the only nature preserve in Karnataka, which was once home to around 25 bustards.

The Great Indian Bustards are found in parts of Rajasthan,Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh.

The officer said the foremost task was to create a natural habitat for the birds by clearing vegetation and then take up captive breeding. The department is awaiting clearance of the proposal by the Centre to take necessary steps in this direction.

Bbhuddah hoga terra Baap celebrates the alpha and omega called Bachchan. The film indulges in every cinematic excess possible to glorify the 6-foot-plus phenomenon.

He is a sharp-shooting hit man. He takes supari to kill a cop, does a Rajni with his bullets and sets a date with underworld baddie Prakash Raj.

While it is impossible to match the screen presence of the angry old gun, Sonu Sood does a good runner-up job as the angry young ACP. Sonal Chauhan and Charmi add some glamour while Hema Malini waltzes well.

Raise a toast to Bachchan. No one emotes like him. He doesn't even need words. A look suffices. Bravo!

The birds propel themselves using their wings and they steer with their feet. The penguins can swim at speeds of more than 40kms per hour and can leap as much as 36 feet from the water's surface onto a rock or iceberg when they want to leave the water.

Some of these scales contain no pigment, instead their transparent structures break up light into its component colors, including the ultraviolet and infrared that we cannot see, but the huge multifaceted eyes of butterflies take in the whole spectrum.

Many butterflies are colourful for their own protection. The Monarch, for example, carries juices that are poisonous to some predators, and its colors advertise this fact.

The process of making honey

Bees produce honey very efficiently and in a great variety. They turn it out in a wide and wonderful variety of flavours and aromas, according to the type of flowering plants and trees in which they feed.

Honey contains several different sugars; a range of organic acids, proteins and amino acids; and dozen elements such as potassium, calcium, sulphur and iron. The exact composition depends greatly on the kind of nectar and pollen that the bees have fed on.

The bees way of making honey is very complex. Honeybees collect nectar and store it in their honey sacs for the return journey to the hive. Fellow workers swallow it, adding proteins and evaporating more of its water. The fluid is then put into cells of the honey comb and the constant fanning of the bee's wings evaporates more water.

When the bees have evaporated water from the fluid in the cells to 20 percent or less, they instinctively judge the honey to be ripe and not liable to ferment. They seal off the cells by covering them with wax.

Humans have tried various cheaper means to produce honey but all attempts to imitate this meticulous process have failed.

Bheja Fry (Hindi)

On winning a television reality show Bharat Bhushan (Vinay Pathak), a middle class income tax officer gets a chance to go on a cruise. There he meets fraudulent business tycoon Ajit Talwar (Kay Kay Menon). When Talwar knows that Bhushan is an incometax officer, he tries to kill him. However, the plan doesn't succeed, instead even Talwar gets into trouble.

Both the actors have done their job well. However, the storyline doesn't meet the expectations of the audience. The movie becomes boring after the interval, unlike the first part. However, it is only the superb acting by Vinay Pathak which makes the audience glued to their seats till the end.

'Reviving' the Radio

What with the onset of television and the Internet as also video games, the ubiquitous 'radio' is a thing of the past. But there are some people keen on retaining the radio.

Probably, with this idea in mind, G.K. Aithal, Senior Branch Manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd. held a talk in the S.D.M. Law college premises in the evening hours on Friday, 17th of June.

Sri K.G. Ramesh Rao, D.G.M. Karnataka Bank Ltd. kindly consented to preside over the meeting.

Entry was free. The programme was followed by entertainment programme for 30 minutes by Sri Guru Rangayya Ballal and party.

It was also announced that there is no fee to become the member of the Radio Listeners' Club.

Missile successfully test-fired

India on Thursday successfully test-fired the nuclear capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile, Prithvi-II, from a DRDO run missile testing centre, located at Chandipur in Balasore district of Orissa.

The indigenously developed missile, which has a capability to hit a target at a distance of 350 kms carrying both conventional as well as nuclear warheads upto 500 kg was testfired fom the launchpad number three of the Interim Test Range at around 9 a.m.

According to soures, the strategic missile reached its predefined target in the Bay of Bengal with a very high accuracy of better than 10 meters. All the radars, electro optical systems, located along the coast had tracked and monitored the missile throughout the flight path.

A ship of the Indian Navy stationed near the target witnessed the final event.

Rare eclipse to occur today

Dubbed the 'rare' treat for astronomers and stargazers the lunar eclipse on Wednesday -visible to half the world- will be the longest and the darkest of the century according to experts.

The eclipse will be witnessed from beginning till the end by people in eastern Africa,West Asia, Central Asia and Western Australia. At the mid-eclipse the moon will be at Mauritius.

The total lunar eclipse will begin at 00.52.30 IST and end at 02:32:42 IST. While the partial eclipse will begin at 23:52:56 IST and end at 03.32.15 IST.

The next darkest lunar eclipse will be seen on June 6, 2058.

Travel and Tourism is now the biggest service industry in India, with a contribution of 6.23 per cent to the GDP and 8.78 per cent of the total employment. In 2009, India registered 563 million domestic tourism visits, which represent a rise of over 15 per cent over the previous year. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, India will be a tourism hotspot from 2009-18, with the highest 10-year growth potential globally.

Infrastructure development holds the key to India's sustained growth in the tourism sector. Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism has been making efforts to develop quality tourism infrastructure at tourist destinations and circuits. The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned 94 projects for an amount of rupees 394. 85 crore for infrastructure augmentation including rural tourism projects in the year 2009-10.

CNR Rao, chairman of the Science Academy Council to the PM, said that none of the country's premier institutions, including Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), 'can match the best in the world'.

He pointed out that China, which does 13 percent of the world's research -second only to the US which does about 18 percent will overtake America.

Rao explained that India has been a victim of lack of finances for years as it was in a very nascent stage as a nation when modern technology and research were taking place.

Spelling Bee champion

14-year old Sukanya Roy has triumphed as the new Spelling Bee champion of the US correctly spelling the tongue-twister 'cymotrichous'.

The championship is considered as a coveted prize for students in the US>

She was declared winner following the finals between 13 candidates.

This is the 4th year in succession and ninth time in 13 years that an Indian American has been declared a Spelling Bee champion.

Sukanya enjoys hiking, rock climbing and iceskating. A pianist, Sukanya also plays iolin in her school's orchestra.

Pointillism

What is Pointillism? To answer the question, it is an art created with an array of dots and Surya Achar Vitla has created more than 500 masterpieces.

He looks back on his journey into this art that started 15 years ago. 'I always had a heart for art and my high school drawing teacher Suresh Hadhadi guided me in pencil sketching. One day, I came across a book that had some Pointillism art works. I thought it was a good idea to try and from that day there was no turning back. I studied the technique and practised it for years and today I am known as 'Chukki Kalavidha' recalls Vitla.

With rotring pen, ivory board, microtip pencil and an eraser the artist can put approximately 150 dots in a minute.

'I mostly do portraits, temples, photos of Gods and landscapes. It takes a week to complete a picture'.

Speaking on the technique, he says that he lightly sketches the outline of the portrait or any picture on an ivory board with a pencil and later fills the sketch with dots with rotring pen. Once the sketch is ready and dry, he rubs off the original pencil sketch with an eraser. The outcome is an art piece created only with dots.

Rains in Kerala

The south-west monsoon hit most parts of Kerala and some parts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, the Regional Meterological Office announced here.

The monsoon has also advanced into most parts of South Arabian sea, some parts of Tamil Nadu, South Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea, an official bulletin said.

The south-west monsoon's advance has been widely welcomed by farmers, others in Tail Nadu. It is expected to bring down the unbearable summer temperatures that hover around at 40 degrees celsius plus.

The government, anticipating a normal monsoon, advanced the release of water for irrigation from the Mettur reservoir to June 6 from the national date of June 122. This has been widely welcomed by farmers.

The Indian Meterological Department (IMD)in Delhi has forecast that rainfall during the four-month season was almost likely to be named this year, at about 98 percent of the Long Period Average. However, the forecast is not final and IMD will update it in June after taking into account parameters for which data would be available only by then.

'Endeavour' on return mission

The US space shuttle Endeavour undocked from the International Space station and headed back to Earth.

The six-member crew of the Endeavour- five US astronauts and Italian Roberto Vittori bade farewell to three on board the space station and closed the hatches between the shuttle and station.

The crew delivered and installed a massive physics experiment the Alpha- Magnetic Spectrometer 2, which will be left at the space station to scour the Universe for clues about dark matter and antimatter.

They also brought up a logistics carrier with spare parts and performed some maintenance and installation work during four spacewalks.

Tellicherry Fort

Located about 22kms from Kannur, this fortress is symbolic of the humble beginnings of trade of the British East India Company in the Malabar region though it later on became a witness to the colonial rule.

The fort overlooking the seas rises to a height of 10m and it is oblong on plan. The entrance of the fort is on top of a giant wall. The fort has two underground chambers. Walking through a corridor one can reach a tunnel like room in the Western part of the fort. This tunnel leads to the sea, an important escape point during the time of the attack.

The second underground cell was used to store spices. The highest point in the fort is a light house which can be reached by climbing winding staircase. The fort is well maintained with a garden within its premises. The fort is centrally protected monument under the control of Arrchaelogical Survey of India since 1921.

One can visit the fort between 8a.m to 6p.m.
